London-based Dezeen magazine’s Designed in Hackney initiative highlights some of the great creative work originating in London’s Hackney borough. It’s anything but hackneyed.

I’m particularly drawn to the Random Project 2012, curated by Sarah Hyndman. This project invites everyone to create an original postcard design inspired by a word that is assigned to entrants via email. Check out a few of the entries included in this poster commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Designs will be exhibited in real life in the heart of London this August.

I might have thought the Diamond Jubilee and Olympic Games would be a source of disdain for the design community, but some creatives in the area seem to be happily caught up in the spirit of London 2012.
